TELECEL ZIMBABWE
Telecel Zimbabwe would like to inform its valued customers and the general public that it will change its numbering plan on 13 November 2009. The new numbering plan will replace the current network code, 023 with 073 then followed by 3. The last six-digit mobile/subscriber number will remain the same. (See examples below).

Questions and answers
Q. How will the numbers change?
A. The old code 023 will be replaced by a new code 073 3. The last 6 digits of the current mobile number remain the same.
Q. Will emergency numbers and other service numbers also change?
A. The emergency number will remain the same, that is 112 for police, fire and ambulance, 153 (prepaid) and 150 (contract) for toll free customer care numbers.
Q. Will the message centre number change?
A. Yes the message centre number will change from the current 00263 23 100 007 to the new 00263 73 010 0007. Please switch off your phone and then on again for the message centre number to recognized and to take effect.
Q. Will international calls be affected?
A. Outgoing international calls will not be affected. Incoming calls (people from outside Zimbabwe calling you) will have to start with the new code i.e. 00263 73 3.
Q. Why do we need this new numbering plan?
A. The new numbering plan is in line with mandatory requirements from regulatory authorities and also to allow for an increase in the subscriber capacity on the Telecel network to accommodate additional subscribers in line with the network expansion plans.
Q. What do subscribers need to do about this change?
A. Businesses will need to adjust their signage, stationery and business cards. Individuals will have to adjust the Telecel mobile numbers in their directory or phonebook to include the new network code. The message centre number will also have to be changed in order to send messages without problems.
