Expansion of Network

Telecel Zimbabwe would like to inform its subscribers and general members of the public that ithas embarked on a project to upgrade its network with an aim of expanding capacity.

The scope of works has been in two phases with the first phase basically targeting Harare and Bulawayo. In these two centres, we have been installing capacity by pulling out selected base stations and replacing them with high capacity equipment. The objective has been to eliminate any form of congestion. We are happy to announce that this exercise has been completed successfully and has resulted in the availability of 100 000 lines details of which will be provided in due course.

Telecel Zimbabwe is now embarking on the second phase of the expansion. We are fully aware of the limited geographic network coverage currently on offer. Under this phase, we will be targeting selected new geographic sites to extend out geographic coverage to cover most highway corridors, service centres and rural areas in addition to all major cities, towns and commercial and mining centres. This phase will see us covering new areas all over the country and will result in even more lines being released onto the market. Details of this second phase will be released in due course.

All these works will mean additional capacity and mobile lines will be readily available in the market. We encourage all potential subscribers to avoid paying black market prices for lines as the current plans will result in the release of many more lines shortly. However, we will be carefully monitoring the subscriber acquisition process and the quality of service to ensure we do not compromise service delivery.
