Release of lines Telecel Zimbabwe is happy to announce to its subscribers and all those that have been patiently waiting to join the network of choice that the second phase of our expansion has been successfully completed. This phase entailed the replacement of low capacity base stations with high capacity ones in all the major urban areas. The installation of these base stations has eliminated virtually all forms of congestion in these areas and we are confident you will notice the difference immediately. It also means we cover more people with less base stations. We have also put in new generators and increased the holding capacity of old ones to ensure higher network availability in the event of power cuts. The result of all this scope of work is that we have created additional capacity of 350 000 lines which will be released throughout our distribution channels shortly.
The new high capacity base stations come with added state-of-the-art functionality which will enable us to roll out new exciting value added services shortly that will see us cut the technological gap between our network and those networks within the region in particular and the rest of the world in general. Most of the equipment has already been delivered and installation has commenced. This phase is expected to take very little time.
The final phase of this year will see us address our biggest challenge as we commence on geographic expansion into new areas all over the country. We expect to cover virtually every city, town, service centre and other commercial centres over the next 4 months.
We thank the market for their patient wait to make their informed choice and urge them to continue watching this space for more exciting developments from the only ISO certified network in the country.
